Recently, Hirsch’s Somerset West hosted their monthly Ladies Networking Event where Hidden Gems business owner, Tanja Beutler, spoke to the audience about wine and her passion that turned to purpose.
“I studied Psychology at Stellenbosch University and never knew much about wine at that time, even though Stellenbosch is the centre of the wine industry,” commented Tanja. “My love for wine started in California when a few friends of mine and I went out every weekend and had the chance and time to taste all the different wines. When I came back to South Africa, I knew that I wanted to get involved with wine and work in the industry.”
“Tanja showed us a few videos of her company and what it is that she does, including a video of Carte Blanche in which she featured – all for good reasons though,” added Hirsch’s Public Relation’s Officer, Kerryn Porter. “She mentioned that her journey to get to where she is now was not a simple and easy one, which is a good reminder for us ladies because we constantly need to be reminded that great things do take time and that we need to continue and persist.”
“I’ve been in the wine industry for 24 years and I still learn new things every single day! It’s a natural process that keeps evolving,” mentioned Tanja. “I also have an online course that I designed from my website that is accessible from anywhere in the world.”
“It was really wonderful having Tanja as our guest speaker for this event!” concluded Kerryn. “Before the event started, Tanja hid an envelope under one of the chairs. This envelope was a free online course that Hirsch’s Somerset West would like to congratulate Nomfundo Mlungwana for winning!”
